252 Scheme

The Bowmen of Glen has introduced the 252 scheme which is open to all club members.

The 252 award scheme is designed to help you develop and practice your shooting at different distances and recognize your achievements.

3 dozen arrows are shot on a 122cm face at your chosen distance. The round can be shot at 30, 40, 50, 60, 80 or 100 yds with the aim of scoring 252 or better using a recurve bow, different scores apply for other bow types. If you achieve 252 or better you can claim a badge.

The 252 award scheme is used by many archer clubs across the UK and can be shot by any archer regardless of age, ability or bow type. The scheme gives an archer a great indication of their progression in improving their ability and when to give that next distance a try.

The Rules:

  1.  Six sighters followed by 3 dozen arrows
  2. 5-zone scoring (Gold = 9, Red = 7, Blue = 5, Black = 3, White = 1) using a 122cm target face.
  3. The three dozen arrows may be shot alone or as the first three dozen of a longer Imperial round.
  4. Badges must be claimed in sequence.
  5. Qualifying scores for a given distance must be shot on different days
  6. To claim a badge a signed and witnessed score sheet should be submitted to the club’s Records Officer, please make sure you include the distance shot on your score sheet.
